He is a Patriarch of Wagh Bakri Tea Group and has been instrumental in setting high standards of quality at the Company with his deep knowledge and insights of the industry.
  • Mr. Rasesh Desai, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director
    Mr. Rasesh Desai is an engineer by education and possesses rich experience of over 5 decades in tea industry. He plays a pivotal role in strategic decisions of the Company. He is a guiding force in domestic and international marketing and plays a key role in the tea blending and packaging process.
  • Mr. Paras Desai, Executive Director
    Mr. Paras Desai is a Commerce Graduate and has done Diploma in Management Studies from Ohio State University, USA. He possesses over 28 years of extensive experience in Tea industry. He is a dynamic & visionary leader and has a significant experience in the areas of Operations, Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance & Accounts, Strategic, Human Resources & General Management. He performs important role in guiding and achieving planned goals of the organization and is a skilled tea taster. He plays a pivotal role in strategic decisions of the Company.
    Mr. Paras Desai also plays a key role & responsibility in the national level Tea Traders Association.
  • Mr. Priyam Parikh, Whole-time Director
    Mr. Priyam Parikh, Whole-time Director, is a Commerce Graduate and has done MBA from The Institute of Management, Nirma University. He possesses experience of over 12 years in Tea industry.
    He has experience in the areas of Information Technology, Strategic, Tea Tasting, Tea Lounges and General Management and plays a pivotal role in strategic decisions of the Company.

  • Mr. Bhushan Punani, Non-Executive Director
    Mr. Bhushan Punani is presently working as Executive Secretary at Blind People’s Association, Ahmedabad, the largest NGO in the disability sector in India, which he joined in 1979 after completing his PGD in Business Management from IIM, Ahmedabad. He is B.Sc., LLB and also a PhD from Gujarat University, and possesses extensive experience of over 4 decades in various branches of social work. He has provided his services to renowned educational institutions and social groups in India and abroad towards education & community-based rehabilitation programmes.
    He is a Non-Executive and Non-Independent Director on the Board.

He also possesses Grad. – CWA degree from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. Mr. Rajesh Shah possesses rich experience of over 40 years in the field of Accounts, Audit, Finance and Taxation. During his professional career, he was the President of Chartered Accountants Association, Ahmedabad during the year 1994-95 and a Member of Direct Taxes Advisory Committee of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi for 2 years.

  • Mr. Ashok Kumar Bhargava, Independent Director
    Mr. Ashok Kumar Bhargava is a Tea Veteran with over 40 years of experience in the Tea Industry. He has done MA in History. He has also done Senior Executive Program from London Business School. He retired as a Managing Director of Apeejay Group in 2017 and is a hands-in-the soil tea planter with immense expertise in not only agriculture practices but also Marketing and Finance. He has sound knowledge on the technical aspect of the tea business.
    He served as a Chairman of Indian Tea Association and Consultative Committee of Plantation Associations ("CCPA"), the Apex body of Tea Industry of India from 2014 to 2016 and led the Indian Tea Delegation to promote Country’s Tea Produce in International Market. He also served as the Chairman of the Agriculture Committee of Tea Research Association.
    He is a Non-Executive and Independent Director on the Board.
  • Mr. Yogesh shah, Independent Director
    Mr. Yogesh Shah started his professional career with Deloitte and worked his entire career with Deloitte for more than 40 years. He was a Partner based at Ahmedabad leading Deloitte Tax practice in the State of Gujarat for more than 20 years.
    He has serviceda number of listed government and non-government companies as well as domestic companies in the private and public sector and MNCs.
    He has over 40 years’ experience in International, Domestic Tax and Transfer Pricing including structuring cross-border transactions besides handling compliance and regulatory matters. He is practicing as a Chartered Accountant in the field of taxation for advisory, litigation and also in succession planning.
    He is actively associated in professional activities by contributing columns, articles in professional journals and lectures in seminars. He is also associated with professional bodies and served at various levels.He is recognized as Gem of Profession by Ahmedabad Branch of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
    He is a Non-Executive and Independent Director on the Board.

  • Mr. Sanjay Singal, CEO
    Mr. Sanjay Singal is a seasoned business leader with over 29 years of experience across FMCG, Retail, and Financial Services. An MBA from IIM Bangalore (1995), he has led large P&Ls and driven business model innovations across India and Asia.

    Currently, he serves as Chief Executive Officer at Wagh Bakri Tea Group, where he is spearheading brand growth, product diversification, and market expansion. He previously held leadership roles at ITC, Dabur, GE Money, Birla Sun Life, Yum Restaurants, and Unilever. He is married to Sonika, an artist, and has two children—Sanket, an engineer in San Francisco, and Sonali, a Mass Communication student.
  • Mr. Sandeep Bhandari, CFO
    Sandeep Bhandari, a seasoned Chartered Accountant with 30+ years of experience, is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), leading key functions across finance, treasury, taxation, budgeting, M&A, and strategy. Known for his integrity and strategic acumen, he has driven business growth, streamlined financial operations, and built strong internal controls—enhancing transparency and stakeholder trust.
  • Mr. Tushar Tripathi, COO
    Tushar Tripathi is the Chief Operating Office at Wagh Bakri Tea Group. With his visionary leadership, he has played a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and achievement of organization’s short term and long-term business plans and objectives.

    Tushar Tripathi has 31 years of rich experience in leading overall manufacturing & laboratory operation, commercials, logistics, new product development and project. He is associated with Wagh Bakri for 17 years and also worked with global giants like Pepsico India Ltd, Pfizer India Ltd and Sandoz India Limited. His dynamic leadership continues to shape the company’s growth and strengthen its position in the competitive FMCG landscape.
  • Mr. Bipin Krishna T, President Tea Sourcing and Tasting
    Bipin Krishna T, born in Kerala in 1971, combined a passion for nature and sports with academic excellence. After completing a diploma in Tea Plantation Management, he began his career with the Wadia Group, where he held key roles across plantations in India, Tanzania, and Singapore, eventually leading their organic tea and factory operations.

    In 2016, he became Managing Director–India at Royal Van Rees Group, driving business expansion and revenue growth. With over 30 years of global tea industry experience, Bipin now heads the Tea Buying and Tasting division at Wagh Bakri Group, bringing expertise that strengthens the Group’s legacy and future growth.
  • Mr. Vikas Mittal, President Sales
    Vikas Mittal is the President – Sales at Wagh Bakri Tea Group. With his visionary sales leadership, Wagh Bakri Tea group has achieved newer milestones in Sales across India.

    Vikas has over 25 years of rich experience in driving sales excellence, trade strategy, and market expansion across India with global giants like Nestle & Unicharm, as well as Indian leaders like Bajaj Consumer Care. His dynamic leadership continues to shape the company’s growth and strengthen its position in the competitive FMCG landscape.
  • Mr. Gaurav Parashar, CMO
    Mr. Gaurav Parashar is a seasoned Marketing Leader with over 25 years of experience in crafting growth strategies and building iconic brands across South Asia. MBA graduate from IIM Indore, he has led marketing teams at Emami, Dabur, VLCC, Reliance Retail, and Kellogg India.

    At Wagh Bakri Tea Group, he spearheads Marketing, Consumer Insights, and NPD Strategy, driving innovation, digital transformation, and category expansion.
  • Mr. Subodh Shah, President International Business
    Mr Subodh Shah has been with Wagh Bakri Group for 18 years and has played a pivotal role in shaping the export division and driving International growth strategy. He has made significant contributions in establishing Wagh Bakri’s Global distribution network, with a presence in more than 60 countries.

    He has guided a vision of sustained growth, innovation and excellence in International business, with a focus on customer-centricity and adaptability. He has travelled extensively for company’s business expansion in the Ethnic Retail Channel and also Footprint to the Mainstream Retail channel in various Overseas markets.
  • Mr. Vinay Sharma, Sr GM Retail Operations
    Vinay Sharma brings over 25 years of diverse experience in retail operations and strategic leadership. He leads the company’s retail growth strategy, ensuring operational excellence, enhanced customer experiences and consistent performance across locations. Vinay specializes in driving retail transformation, developing high-performing teams, and building strong, customer-centric retail environment. His deep industry insight and result-driven approach continue to play a vital role in strengthening Wagh Bakri Tea Lounges presence and reputation in the Indian market.

History

Traversing in time to over a century ago, Wagh Bakri Tea Group was the fruition of the dream of a devout Gandhian, Shri Narandas Desai. An entrepreneur at heart, he started out in 1892 with 500 acres of tea estate in South Africa. Taking on the fine task of nurturing tea, passionately and single-handedly, he learned the intricacies of cultivating and producing tea, along with the aesthetics and norms of the business. However racial discrimination forced him to return to India with nothing but a few valuables and a certificate from Mahatma Gandhi for being the most honest and experienced tea estate owner in South Africa.

Shri Narandas Desai's three sons Shri Ramdas Desai, Shri Ochavlal Desai and Shri Kantilal Desai followed in their father's footsteps by joining the business. Till 1980 Gujarat Tea Depot continued to sell tea in wholesale as well as retail through 7 retail outlets. Also the first to recognize the need for packaged teas, the group launched Gujarat Tea Processors and Packers Ltd. in 1980. The company also started an office in Kolkata to oversee and check the purchase of tea at auction centres there.The corporate office of Wagh Bakri was inaugurated in 2006. It is a tribute to the founder that his vision is blended with a futuristic outlook, dedication and trust built over many years.
